51st Annual VFW Santa Parade

Santa Parade

All week we were nervously monitoring the weather. This was Asperger Works’ third parade participation and our anxiety was well-founded.

The first was the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lawrence – it snowed. The second was the Hispana Parade in Lawrence – it was steaming hot. We hoped that third time would be the charm. – It was cold and it rained. But… we had a grand time and so did the people lining the route of Haverhill’s Santa Parade. Thanks goes to Board members Tom “Woody” Wood, who was able to participate by driving his car; Rachael Chambers; Daniel Rajczyk; Adam Rajczyk; Eva Rajczyk; Jazzy & Molly, who were major hits, especially with the children.

Please click here to see the video of the Parade. I you are impatient to see us, please fast-forward the video to 1:10:46.

Below you will find our slide shows.
We all gathered at the Wood School on South Spring Street and waited for the Parade to begin.
Finally, the Parade was underway! But it was still not our turn to march. Thus, we had the opportunity to see some of the floats as they went by.

Then it was finally our turn to begin our march.

It was amazing to see the number of people who came out even in this raw weather. It was an easy walk until we hit White’s Corner. From there, it was all uphill for a while, Haverhill’s “Heartbreak Hill.” And before we knew it, we were at the end of the Parade route.
